Staffordshire Pottery cow creamer

Description

Earthenware figure of a dairy cow standing on a simple base with tree trunk for support.

The cow is decorated with iron red patches while the base has a few applied flowers for decoration

Condition

The tail, ears and tips of the horns are missing along with the teets of the udder.

Several leaves from the applied bocage decoration are also fragmented or missing, surface soiled.

Approach

Based on research, for size and shape, the missing areas where modelled in wax from which silicone rubber moulds were taken.

The moulds were cast with tinted epoxy resin and detail of the enamel colours hand retouched.
